Sujith

My name is Sujith Nayar. I am 35 years young and live in Brisbane, Australia with my wife, Alloka. I was born in Kerala, India and have lived in Australia since I was two years old. For much of my life, I lived in Perth, Western Australia, before moving east for work.

Until last year, I lived a normal life like any of you. I worked full-time in IT. I enjoyed watching and playing sports, especially cricket and football. I am a die-hard supporter of the Indian cricket team and also support the Arsenal Football Club. I was a happy person with a passion for cooking and travelling. I loved watching cooking shows and home renovation shows on TV but my favourite is binge-watching shows like NCIS, 24 and Hawaii five – O.

However, all that changed in November 2015. On Nov 1, 2015, I was rushed to the Emergency Department for a chest pain. I thought my heart was giving up on me considering my family history. But the doctor said ‘your heart is all good, but there are some anomalies in your blood and we suspect leukemia’. The world came to a standstill for me. It was confirmed on Nov 3, 2015, and I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Philadelphia Positive.
